Following a court ruling (Delgado vs. Bastrop ISD) against segregation of Mexican-American students in Texas, the Mexican School closes and students are transferred to Central (later Berkman) Elementary.
The building was sold to Col. W.N. Todd, Jr., in February 1953 for $4,500 and converted into a private residence. The building no longer stands.
