When Signe Quick retired following the 1965-66 school year, her 45 year legacy of teaching elementary students in Round Rock ISD came to an end. She was 72 years old.
Quick previously taught for six years at the Stony Point School. Quick was hired by Round Rock ISD on June 6, 1921 and was paid the sum of $80 per month for nine months.
In all, Quick’s elementary teaching career totaled 51 years. When she retired, Round Rock ISD had two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school – just one more than when she joined the district.
Quick passed away on December 8, 1974 and is buried at the Palm Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery in Round Rock. In 1988, the Board of Trustees voted to dedicate Double File Trail Elementary School in her memory.
